TIFF, or tif, which stands for Tagged Image File Format, is a file format for storing images, such as photographs, line art, and scanned text. The format is popular for high-color-depth images, but the resulting files can be huge. However, when used with bitonal images and CCITT Group IV (aka C4) compression, TIFF files tend to be smaller than those in PNG format. We generally do not use TIFF files internally at DP or in our PPed texts because it is not widely supported in browsers, however it may be helpful at times in the content provision process.
