Many DP activites are easier and more fun when they are done together.

Groofing and Gfoofing

Groofing is group proofing, where we cooperate and coordinate our efforts to proofread one or more projects, usually one or two projects an hour. Gfoofing is the same thing, but for formatting. Groofs and gfoofs are usually organized on one of the Special Teams discussion threads and target the texts on those teams' project lists or gap games.

Megagroofing

A megagroof is a 24 hour groofing session, with 1 book per hour; it's held four times a year by the P3 Diehards and P2 + 1 teams.

Other Group Activities

Groofing and gfoofing are the core group activities, but just about any DP activity can be done as a group, including:

Gap games

Main page: Gap Game

Most Special Teams maintain a list of the texts they're currently focusing on. The format for these lists is based on one created for the P3 Archers Gap Game, in which proofers would try to move projects around the list into different colored bands.

Most teams use this or a similar template, so even if they don't feature this kind of gameplay, they are sometimes still called "gap games."

Queue Busting

In the proofreading rounds, projects are grouped into subject matter queues, so that there is always a variety of projects available in each round. When a queue is full, additional projects in that genre have to wait to enter the next round. Queue busters try to clear out queues so projects flow quickly from one round to another.

Originally this was done by the Queue Busters group; it is currently being worked on by the P2 + 1 group, which is currently inactive. However, there is usually a "queue buster" listed on the Greenhouse Game run by the P2+1 team.

Special Teams

Main page: Special Teams

There are a number of teams whose names you may see thrown around. A few of the more prominent are:

  • P3 Archers are a team that focuses in on one or a few projects, often projects with fewer than 100 pages left, and tries to push them out of the P3 round
  • P3 Diehards are a group that tries to move slower and older projects through the P3 round
  • P2 + 1 is a group that tries to help users qualify for P3, including by pushing qualifying projects quickly through the P3 round

jabber

Jabber is a chat network that was heavily used in the past for coordinating group activities. There are still usually squirrels and other DPers in the DP groupchat window on the Jabber network.
