Explaining what just happened

User:Kraester is compiling the DP Jargon list by transcluding all the individual definitions of terms. In many cases this is straightforward, since for most jargon, all that needs to be on the wiki article is a simple definition and some links. But for other wiki articles, like Mentoring or P2alt, it makes editorial sense for the page of that name to have both the definition and other material that shouldn't appear on the Jargon list.

To get around this, we're planning on creating special-purpose definition-only pages (like this one) for those terms that need "extra stuff" on their wiki pages, and will transclude the definition to both the Jargon list and the general article.

That's what happened here. I don't much like the choice of page names; User:Kraester is considering how to perhaps use a namespace to work this all out more elegantly. But for the meantime, I've moved User:DaveKline's excelletn historical overview back to the main P2alt page, so everybody sees it. Vaguery 13:10, 27 May 2006 (PDT)

Why the "See also P2alt..." sentence is set to "noinclude"

I have set the "See P2alt for more detail on this history of this round" to <noinclude> so that sentence doesn't transclude into the P2alt subject page itself. Of course, that sentence will no longer transclude into the Jargon Guides either, but I don't think that's a problem since the entries for P1, P2, and proofreading all provide links to the P2alt subject page. The sentence is useful for people who stumble upon the 'P2alt definition' page itself, so I thought it was a good idea to leave it on this page, but it seemed best to prevent its transclusion for the reason stated earlier.
