shortcut format for most dp pages

How about a shortcut format for most dp pages (P1-F2, PP, PM, Activity Hub, Gold List, etc.)? Or is it better to just use the whole URL?

round:P1, pool:PPV. Mikeyc21 21:58, 20 May 2006 (PDT)
I've stumbled on (saw that someone had used it on a Wiki page, and tried similar links myself) the style of dp:faq_central.php and dp:faq/document.php etc., for "regular" Web pages like the Activity Hub site, etc. Are there any more shortcuts out there that someone might be aware of that are not in the article? kraester 03:50, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

linking from forum post to wiki

Is there shortcut for linking from a forum post to a wiki page? Wwoods 18:16, 21 May 2006 (PDT)

linking to posted etexts

Can we add a shortcut for linking to posted texts (even though those are technically at PG rather than DP)? Something like [[etext:1234]] would link to http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/1234. Caw 07:25, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

etext:1234 already works :) Acunning40 08:09, 22 May 2006 (PDT)
Doh! I'm a tool... Thanks! Caw 22:16, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

linking to user talk pages

How do I link to a user's talk page? -- Novartza 03:39, 23 May 2006 (PDT)

[[User talk:Username]]. E.g., User talk:Mikeyc21 Mikeyc21 04:17, 23 May 2006 (PDT)

Why was this page moved?

Some of these shortcuts are indeed for linking to the DP Forum, others are not. Mikeyc21 06:22, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

Well, I moved it again, for this very reason. For better or worse. kraester 03:45, 4 June 2006 (PDT)
This one is at least accurate, if a little ungainly. Personally, I prefer its original title: Shortcuts for linking to DP. The justification for the initial move was something like "This is part of DP, too", but I don't think the original title necessarily implies that the wiki isn't. Mike (talk) 10:49, 4 June 2006 (PDT)
Though it probably actually belongs at Linking to DP content housed outside DP Wiki (or whatever the title is, but in the DPWiki: namespace). Mike (talk) 10:50, 4 June 2006 (PDT)
Well, you may not believe it, but I almost moved it to a page with an even longer title. I'm finding it very hard to break my "make titles as accurate and descriptive as possible" training here in the Wiki. I have to keep reminding myself over and over, and it doesn't always work, that the titles I decide to use also become filenames. I'm so used to being able to have descriptive titles, and then separate, more efficient filenames associated with those titles.
I wondered about the namespace, but couldn't decide whether to use Help or DPWiki, and then just left it in Main since that's where the Linking to Forums page was. So, "for my information," when should the Help namespace be used as opposed to the DPWiki namespace? Just wondering. kraester 17:43, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

linking to projects?

Is it possible to link directly to a detail level for a project, or do we have to use an external link for that (see eg the current projects in the F2 Fanatics project list which link to detail level 3). And I agree with Mikeyc21, not all these links are to forums but they are all to the DP site Lpryor 06:29, 27 May 2006 (PDT)

linking to a forum?

I was about to ask the same thing about linking to forums, rather than posts. This is something that's come up in several articles lately. Vaguery 06:35, 27 May 2006 (PDT)
