A good word list (GWL) is a list of words compiled by Distributed Proofreaders that are not flagged in WordCheck.
Good word lists are one of two types of word lists used in WordCheck.
WHY words are on a Good Word List
A word is included on a good word list so it is not flagged in WordCheck to allow the proofer to focus on other possible errors. A word may be included for one of a number of reasons:
- it is a proper noun, such as a character or place name
- it is a technical term not included in the standard WorkCheck dictionary
Types of Good Word Lists
There are two types of good word lists:
- site-level lists for each language that Distributed Proofreaders (DP) maintains a WordCheck dictionary; these lists are maintained by the DP's site administrators.
- project-level lists for each project; these lists are maintained by the project's project manager.
