Talk:Accessibility Recipes/Abbreviations

What abbreviations need it?

I don't get this section. If I am going to mark up abbreviations I'd want to do all; even Mr., Mrs. etc., i.e., e.g., et al. I also disagree that Dr. is something you don't need to worry about, since it could stand for either Doctor or Drive. Question #1: Is there a reason why I shouldn't mark those common abbreviations? Question #2: If there is no reason not to mark them; for those abbreviations that have origin in Latin, I wonder if the title attribute should be Latin (for instance, "id est") or English equivalent (such as "that is")? camomiletea 20:54, 5 May 2008 (PDT)

The reason to tag such abbreviations is to aid reading software, and enable them to expand them correctly. Mr, Mrs, Ms, etc. are typically understood, and Dr may very well default to doctor, so you only need to tag it to Drive.Jeroen Hellingman 00:16, 6 May 2008 (PDT)

Dead links

I removed a dead link which now goes to an e-commerce site; there are two more which go to a forum site that's still online, but the links no longer work and I've been unable to locate the relevant threads to fix the links. I left the (now broken) links in place in case someone in the future is able to fix them.
