A developer is a Distributed Proofreaders (DP) volunteer that participates in the development and maintenance of DP's software.

Developers are sometimes referred to fondly and informally as squirrels, but not all developers have the "official" title of Squirrel.

Become a Developer

Distributed Proofreaders (DP) encourages you to volunteer your talent in the development and maintenance of DP's software. The front-end the system uses HTML 5, Javascript and smatterings of CSS. The back-end uses PHP, MySQL, and Gettext. DP's source control repository is hosted at GitHub.

A developer at DP will need to set up:

  1. a GitHub.com account
  2. a copy of the DP Code Development VM --or-- a sandbox on Distributed Proofreaders's Test server
