Adopt an Author

As CP, PM, and PP, I've decided to 'adopt' a few authors. This means that I'll try to get every work by or on this other into Project Gutenberg, provided, of course, that those works can be cleared. I can do this in various ways, including by coordinating with other volunteers. To do this, I'll produce an as complete as possible bibliography for each adopted author.

This is my list of authors.

José Rizal

The official national hero of the Philippines. However, it is not just because of this status, which tends to iconize him, and sometimes even detracts from what he has to say, but because of his message, which ultimately got him shot.

During his life-time, he published two novels and a range of political pamphlets, almost all of them in Spanish.

Works. Books originally written or published.

Translations. Translations of his works.

Related. Works related to José Rizal or his works.

Multatuli

Still controversial after 150 years, but also the most significant contributor to Dutch literature of the 19th century, using a highly innovative and modern way of telling the story of abuses in the Netherlands Indies. After that, continued to publish his ideas for years.

Jules Verne

(In Dutch translation only) The well known precursor of science fiction. Almost all his novels where translated into Dutch shortly after they appeared in the original French. Many of the translations we have to work with are old, and have been significantly revised in editions currently available in print. However, a large fraction of his work is no longer available at all.
