Installation issues

Guiguts needs to be easier to install.

HTML export

Requires a general tidyup - this may fix a number of the reported bugs.

Clean up

Title page is laid out with a mixture of heading elements. (Better to leave it to the PPer rather than trying to be clever? Some difference in opinion on this: Miller likes current behaviour, for instance.)

Factor out hard-coded HTML/CSS. Eg: don't automatically style

Allow use of external stylesheet rather than the provided one.

Accessibility

Research standard accessibility guidelines and ensure GG's output adheres to them.. See [forumpost:339895] for some ideas.

Page anchors

Page anchors are placed at the end of the last paragraph on the previous page, instead of with the first entity on the new page. Particularly a problem with chapter headings and more so if the previous chapter ended with footnotes (see [forumpost:339953]).

Page anchors appearing inside other s are misCSSed.

Miscellaneous

"I would like short cuts in the html fixup window." See [forumpost:339899]. Not sure what this was requesting.

Would like HTML anchors to work as Guiguts bookmarks.

Poetry inside footnotes generates poor (perhaps broken) HTML. See [forumpost:339907].

No rewrap inside blockquote produces an extra

pair. See [forumpost:339949].

Option to have a no-caption illustration. See [forumpost:339949].

/F F/ markup doesn't work properly. See [forumpost:339949].

Footnotes

Square brackets inside footnotes confuse GG.

Spellcheck and other checks

Word Frequency: Hyphen search should also list cases where the two "words" have a space between them, or emdash

Do something useful with Wordcheck's Good and Bad Word lists.

Have the option of more than one dictionary. Or the appropriate LOTE dictionary for LOTE projects.

Spellcheck doesn't support UTF-8, or Aspell 6. UTF-8 support only in Aspell 6. Aspell 6 standard on Linux systems (and Mac?) but not available for Windows at all yet.

TEI export

Provide PGTEI output option.

Greek/Hebrew

Make Greek easier to import and convert.

Provide support for converting accents specified using crb11's scheme.

Check beta-code<-> Unicode conversion. It gets a number of cases wrong. (It may be worth submitting to CPAN as a standalone module).

Provide a Hebrew pop-up like the Greek one. Requires an official Hebrew transliteration scheme.

OS-specific issues

Windows

Recent GGs don't work on Windows 98. (Anything since .561, it seems. JHowse reported this.)

Mac

Quadruple click needed in some cases. (Getting from Jeebies report to text, at least.)

Other

Auto illustration search strips formatting such as small-caps from captions. Investigate.

Block quote cannot be imbedded in no-wrap. See [forumpost:339993]

Necessity for blank lines around no-wrap and block-quote should be removed. See [forumpost:339993]

Implement unlimited undo. See [forumpost:340020] for implmentation ideas.

"The thing of setting a bookmark to resume spellchecking doesn't seem to work, or at least not reliably." Reported by laurawisewell. Needs investigation.

Provide some method of configuring Tidy's options.

Feature request: Selection>Surround With dialog to remember last settings.

Report window that Fixup>Gutcheck generates has different focus properties to Fixup>Wordcheck. Latter preferable. See [forumpost:340047] for details. Connected to the quadruple-click Mac problem.

Feature request: Search-dialog accelerators when the focus is in the document window. See [forumpost:340047]. Needs thought.

Remove markup button for making tables removes small-caps. See [forumpost:340074]. Need to work out what's happening here.

Provide character counts for unicode-only characters in Word Frequency.

Internal

Modularise guiguts into multiple smaller files.

Blue-sky

Consider how to combine guiguts functionality into guigrep (and vice versa).

Provide online version of guiguts.
