Formatting

  • Often several acceptable ways Format an Ad page:
  • Priority: format the inline completely & correctly, because:
    • PP focused on layout, not required to use F* rounds layout
    • PP not focused on bold/italic/small caps

-------------------- response

Oftentimes, the PP'r will want these two items (Author and Title) tagged separately, but not always. Sometimes it's preferred that both go into 1 tag for a cleaner look. This would be another thing I'd ask about in the PD.

Whenever you start working on text that has a large section of similar material with lots of questionable formatting, it's always best to ask so that we don't end up with either a ton of pages with all the formatting needing to be redone, or having different formatting on every page. Consistency is very important in long Advert lists like this. I've found that posting an example in the PD is helpful to get better instructions & feedback.

Hi,

Do you want the ads like the below formatted with separate <b> tags for author and title?   Or, with 1 tag?

example from https://www.pgdp.net/c/tools/page_browser.php?project=projectID633ac1a7e16c9&imagefile=x0240.png

Option 1: Separate tags
/#

<b>Tytler (C. C. Fraser-).</b>--<b>Mistress Judith</b>: A Novel. Crown 8vo,

cloth extra, 3<i>s.</i> 6<i>d.</i>; post 8vo, illustrated boards, 2<i>s.</i>

#/
Option 2: 1 tag
/#

<b>Tytler (C. C. Fraser-).--Mistress Judith</b>: A Novel. Crown 8vo,

cloth extra, 3<i>s.</i> 6<i>d.</i>; post 8vo, illustrated boards, 2<i>s.</i>

#/
Option 3: Something else?

QUESTION 2:

Do you currently have any other preferences in regards to formatting advertising in this project?

Thanks, Bob
