Lyrics copied from P3 and perl-formatted --QMacrocarpa 13:21, 2 June 2007 (PDT):

"WHEN rising from the bed of death,"
" O'erwhelmed with guilt and fear,"
"I see my Maker face to face,"
" O how shall I appear?"
""
"If yet, while pardon may be found,"
" And mercy may be sought,"
"My heart with inward horror shrinks,"
" And trembles at the thought;"
""
"When thou, O Lord, shalt stand disclosed"
" In majesty severe,"
"And sit ¡n judgement on my soul,"
" O how shall I appear?"
""
"But thou hast told the troubled mind"
" Who does her sins lament."
"The timely tribute of her tears"
" Shall endless woe prevent."
""
"Then see the sorrow of my heart,"
" Ere yet it be too late;"
"And hear my Saviour's dying groans,"
" To give those sorrows weight."
""
"For never shall my soul despair"
" Her pardon to procure,"
"Who knows thine only Son has died"
" To make her pardon sure."
""

Lily3 Notes

Copy the Lilypond source to your computer and compile it to create MIDIs and a PDF to check. Leave notes here, or edit the code in Lily2 and leave notes describing the changes. The L3 who declares the hymn "cleared" should upload the correctly-named files to the file repository. This ensures that what is checked and cleared is exactly what is uploaded.

  • Can't get em-dash into the markup again, although I think I am doing exactly what worked for me last time. Have cut and paste the character from about 10 different webpages without success, and am remembering to save the file as UTF-8. Would one of you be so kind as to point out gently the blindingly obvious error which I am no doubt making? :-)

Jkenny 08:48, 14 July 2007 (PDT)

  • I'm not sure why you had the problem. I have just copied and pasted an emdash into the Note.-- line directly into the wiki here. Normally I copy and paste from this web page, which also contains other useful unicode symbols such as daggers: Test for Unicode Support.
    • May be you can try this page?
    • Or if that doesn't work, you could try to copy and paste from one of these wiki pages with the emdash.
  • The code fragment for that line now reads: \smallCaps "Note" \hspace #-1.2 ".—"
    • Notice the emdash has been taken out of the influence of the \smallCaps. This is because when \smallCaps is applied to unicode characters, there's usually errors. The \smallCaps modifier also does not work for a number of other situations, notably characters with umlauts.
  • By the way, I like the way you have produced the fractions: it's a great piece of coding

camilla 13:58, 14 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Ah, it was the \smallCaps interfering with the emdash - good tip, thanks.
  • I would so like to pretend that I came up for the idea for the fractions... While trawling through the documentation for something or other, I passed instructions for customising time signatures. And thought - hey, a time signature looks just like those fractions which I've got no idea how to code... Sometimes the solutions to the hardest problems drop into your lap like an apple. Whereas a poxy little em-dash... Thanks for the good work you did on the first version of this hymn; you will have noticed I have helped myself liberally to your code in producing this one. Respect. :-)

styg 22:29, 14 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Since this is the same melody (just differently arranged) as 158.png, please add the tune name and tempo information from 158.png to this hymn also.
  • Need to add the closing bracket after the Choir alone comment.
  • The fractions are pretty cool!
  • You don't need to exclude the alternate tune hymn numbers (in the Note) from the italics. We are using the standard formatting rule which assumes italic numerals were not available for typesetting at that time but that if those slugs were available, the numbers would also be in italics. You are correct to leave out the parentheses though.
  • Verse 4, line 2 should end with a comma instead of a period. (already noted on Proofing Errors page)

camilla 09:54, 15 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Thanks styg. Let me know if you think the header looks OK the way I've arranged it with the tune name and tempo, etc.
