Lyrics copied from P3 and perl-formatted --QMacrocarpa 14:17, 3 July 2007 (PDT):

"SING we triumphant hymns of praise,"
"New hymns to heaven exulting raise:"
"Christ, by a road before untrod,"
"Ascendeth to the throne of God."
""
"The holy apostolic band"
"Upon the Mount of Olives stand,"
"And with the Virgin-mother see"
"Jesu's resplendent majesty."
""
"To whom the Angels, drawing nigh,"
"Why stand and gaze upon the sky?"
"This is the Saviour! thus they say,"
"'This is his noble triumph-day!'"
""
"'Again shall ye behold him, so"
"As ye to-day have seen him go;"
"In glorious pomp ascending high,"
"Up to the portals of the sky.'"
""
"* O grant us thitherward to tend,"
"And with unwearied hearts ascend"
"Toward thy kingdom's throne, where thou,"
"As is our faith, art seated now."
""
"* Be thou our joy and strong defence."
"Who art our future recompense:"
"So shall the light that springs from these"
"Be ours through all eternity."
""
"O risen Christ, ascended Lord."
"All praise to thee let earth accord,"
"Who art, while endless ages run."
"With Father and with Spirit One."
"Amen."
""

Notes by L2 Jkenny 09:41, 3 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Verse 3, first line does indeed end with a comma (confirmed with 1933 edition)
  • Verse 3 line 2 and line 3, inserted single-quote marks (visible in scan). Errata page updated.
  • Verse 7: Moved "Amen" up to join rest of line 4 of verse, like rejoining a long line of poetry.

Note by L3 KenJ 02:21, 24 August 2007 (PDT)

  • A little more space between Note and "The Venerable Bede"? I had to measure to actually see that there is slightly more space already, but I think it should be more obvious.
  • Lyrics, verse 6, line 1 should probably be comma instead of period.
  • Verse 6, line 3: ends in "thee", not "these".
  • Verse 7, lines 1 and 3 should probably end in comma instead of period.

Notes by Jkenny 03:51, 24 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Inserted space before "The Venerable Bede".
  • Verse 6 line 1 inserted comma.
  • Verse 6 line 3, changed to "thee".
  • Verse 7 lines 1 and 3, inserted commas.
  • All the commas are indeed in 1933 edition, errata page updated.
  • V2 up.

Note by KenJ 13:08, 24 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Great. Clear it.
