Lyrics copied from P3 and perl-formatted --QMacrocarpa 09:12, 28 June 2007 (PDT):

"ON the Resurrection morning"
" Soul and body meet again;"
"No more sorrow, no more weeping,"
" No more pain!"
""
"Here awhile they must be parted,"
" And the flesh its Sabbath keep,"
"Waiting in a holy stillness,"
" Wrapt in sleep."
""
"For a while the wearied body"
" Lies with feet toward the morn;"
"Till the last and brightest Easter"
" Day be born."
""
"But the soul in contemplation"
" Utters earnest prayer and strong,"
"Bursting at the Resurrection"
" Into song."
""
"Soul and body reunited"
" Thenceforth nothing shall divide,"
"Waking up in Christ's own likeness"
" Satisfied."
""
"O the beauty, O the gladness"
" Of that Resurrection day,"
"Which shall not through endless ages"
" Pass away!"
""
"On that happy Easter morning"
" All the graves their dead restore;"
"Father, sister, child, and mother"
" Meet once more."
""
"To that brightest of all meetings"
" Bring us, Jesu Christ, at last,"
"By thy Cross, through death and judgement,"
" Holding fast."
""

Notes by L2 Jkenny 02:29, 24 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Strange! If this is the 1906 edition, how did they know that S. Baring-Gould passed away in 1924?

Notes by L3 KenJ 05:16, 22 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Metre: change (7 7. 7 7.) to (8 7. 8 3.).
  • Re: 1924. There are more--by him and others. There also seems to be a number of typefaces or fonts. The images don't show an actual publication date. A websearch didn't turn up a history of printings of The English Hymnal. I was looking for later printings or reprints before 1933.

Notes by Jkenny 07:46, 22 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Changed metre.
  • And if "1924", this would mean this particular printing is after 1923.... PG clearance?
  • Perhaps I should post a question in the forum.
  • V2 up.

Comment by KenJ 15:09, 22 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Can't hurt to check to be "safe". I didn't notice any mention of copyright in the project comments either, as I've seen in some projects.
  • Clear it.

V2 uploaded to repository.
