Notes by L2 Jkenny 01:27, 20 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Since all the verses of lyrics are already in the score, I did not add lyrics after the music.
  • Note also that following the guidelines we agreed on earlier (and after measuring font sizes with rulers!) the inline lyrics are size -1 or slightly smaller than lyrics which are laid out on their own after the staffs. I hope it looks right.
  • Amen midi is generated as a separate file.
  • Was able to force pagebreaks at the same places in the score to match the image. The "footnote" at the bottom of page 3 also ended up in the same place as on the image.
  • A number of P3 errors (in verse 1 lyric text - 198png) added to errata page.

Notes by L3 KenJ 20:13, 18 August 2007 (PDT)

  • System 1, measure 4, bass: slur first two notes to match other voices? Maybe not... only soprano notes have the slur.
  • System 3, measure 4, lyrics: dot after moan? Looks like a period the way it is now, which is certainly wrong. Looks like place (note) holder which is usually formatted with a dash (between syllables), but not between syllables here. I'm not sure what to make of it, or what should be done. Leave note for PP'er?
  • There's a comma after "gloom-y reign" (second system p. 199.png) in inline lyrics, but no comma in lyrics under score (p. 196, verse 2, line3).
  • Asterisked note at the bottom of p. 200.png: Take hymn number "124" out of italics.
  • Second last system over-all, second last note, alto: No natural.
  • Last system over-all, first note, alto: f => g.
  • Difficult in many places to tell which notes belong together on a stem. Hopefully you could use 1933 version of The English Hymnal to clarify.

Notes by Jkenny 22:05, 18 August 2007 (PDT)

  • ....not sure, but let's match the image on the slurs.
  • Dot after moan is still there in the 1933 edition. So I reproduced it in the code, and we'll leave a note for the PPer.
  • "Gloomy reign" - same thing happens in 1933 edition, comma here, no comma in the previous piece. We'll leave a note for the PPer.
  • Took "124" out of italics.
  • Second last system, second last note alto - should be aes, so natural gone.
  • Fixed last system 1st note alto f -> g
  • Checked the stems on 1933 edition. Verified. In general, the alto always takes 2 of the noteheads out of 3, there's only 2 spots in system 2 where all 3 noteheads go with soprano and there is no downstem at all.
  • Version 2 up.

Notes by KenJ 15:54, 19 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Yes, match image.
  • I found all down stems, too, except for two (in the same measure, even). Your eyes aren't as bad as you thought, to see only "hints" of some stems.
  • Well done. That's another one cleared.

V2 cleared and uploaded to repository. Jkenny 19:17, 19 August 2007 (PDT)

Notes for PPer

  • Note the dot after "moan" 3rd system. Is present in 1933 edition as well as scan, so inserted.
  • Note page 2 system 2 (6th system) "gloomy reign" ends with comma. Is present in 1933 edition. However lyrics in previous (plainsong piece did not have a comma after "gloomy reign"). No comma in 1933 edition plainsong lyrics either.
