Lyrics copied from P3 and perl-formatted --QMacrocarpa 19:37, 26 June 2007 (PDT):

"BY Jesus' grave on either hand,"
"While night is brooding o'er the land,"
"The sad and silent mourners stand."
""
"At last the weary life is o'er,"
"The agony and conflict sore"
"Of him who all our sufferings bore."
""
"Deep in the rock's sepulchral shade"
"The Lord, by whom the world was made,"
"The Saviour of mankind, is laid."
""
"O hearts bereaved and sore distrest,"
"Here is for you a place of rest;"
"Here leave your griefs on Jesus' breast."

Notes by L2 Jkenny 07:21, 9 July 2007 (PDT)

  • There's a whole bunch of markups under the heading "Easter" at the bottom of the page. I am not sure where they belong. The text may go with the next hymn which is th first hymn under the theme of "Eastertide", whereas this hymn is themed "Good Friday and Easter Even:. Anyway in the end I decided to simply match the image.

Notes by L3 KenJ 17:01, 17 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Lyrics, verse 1, line 2: Comma at end of line should be period.
  • Blank line between lyric verses 1 and 2 looks narrower.
  • The blank line between "EASTER" and "See also" is the same narrower width as between lyric verses 1 and 2.
  • Posted comma/period correction to error list.

Notes by Jkenny 01:48, 18 August 2007 (PDT)

  • My 1933 edition shows verse 1 line 2 ends with a comma, and also lyrics at cyberhymnal show it ends with comma, what do you think? Leave as comma?
  • Fixed blank lines between v1 and 2 and also elsewhere where the blank lines seem narrower.
  • Also, took the hymn number 738 in the bottom text out of italics, to match the image.
  • Version 2 up.

Notes by L3 KenJ 02:16, 18 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Verse1, line2, comma: Reading the text, it looks like it should be a comma. It doesn't sound like a complete sentence after the first two lines. I vote for comma, even if you have to say it's a typo that got fixed. I suppose I should have read it in context instead of relying what I saw (or thought I saw).
  • V2 looks good to me. Send it on.

  • V2 cleared and uploaded to repository. Jkenny 04:20, 18 August 2007 (PDT)
