Lyrics copied from P3 and perl-formatted --QMacrocarpa 10:29, 12 June 2007 (PDT):

"IT is finished! Blessed Jesus,"
" Thou hast breathed thy latest sigh,"
"Teaching us the sons of Adam"
" How the Son of God can die."
""
"Lifeless lies the pierced Body,"
" Resting in its rocky bed;"
"Thou hast left the Cross of anguish"
" For the mansions of the dead."
""
"In the hidden realms of darkness"
" Shines a light unseen before,"
"When the Lord of dead and living"
" Enters at the lowly door."
""
"* Lo! in spirit, rich in mercy"
" Comes he from the world above,"
"Preaching to the souls in prison"
" Tidings of his dying love."
""
"* Lo! the heavenly light around him,"
" As he draws his people near;"
"All amazed they come rejoicing"
" At the gracious words they hear."
""
"Patriarch and Priest and Prophet"
" Gather round him as he stands,"
"In adoring faith and gladness"
" Hearing of the piercèd hands."
""
"There in lowliest joy and wonder"
" Stands the robber by his side,"
"Reaping now the blessèd promise"
" Spoken by the Crucified."
""
"Jesus, Lord of our salvation,"
" Let thy mercy rest on me;"
"Grant me too, when life is finished,"
" Rest in Paradise with thee."
""

Notes by L3 KenJ 16:10, 17 August 2007 (PDT)

  • System 2, last note, tenor: f should be a.
  • Just below score, the header "GOOD FRIDAY EVENING AND EASTER EVEN" is missing. Same as Page Header, but with "EVENING added after FRIDAY". It looks like the actual Section Header got shortened in the Page Headers. Maybe should consult PP'er on this.
  • Lyrics, verse 1, line 1: "Blessed" should be "Blessèd".
  • The blank lines between verses 1 and 2, and 2 and 3 look smaller than the others.
  • Lyrics, verse 2, line 1: "pierced" should be "piercèd".
  • Posted two lyric errors to error list.
  • Even though the lyrics are not positioned exactly as in the image, I approve of the two-column format for all verse text.

Notes Jkenny 20:52, 17 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Fixed tenor f -> a
  • On header - we have encountered this before, we figured the printer probably did this to indicate a change of theme, but since this is the left hand side page, he can't print it on top as the left hand header says "The Christian Year", so he prints it below. In the pdf, since it is intended as a stand-alone document, we moved it to the top. But use the long version or the short one? We choose to use the short one as that is consistent with the other hymns of the same theme. What we will do when this happens is leave a note for PPer here.
  • Fixed the words with accents. Thanks for updating the errata page.
  • Line spacing - you are right! Puzzling - I don't know why this happens, but I have fixed it.
  • 2 columns - we do this arrangement only when it makes it possible to squeeze everything onto 1 page. It's convenient for musicians - I was told musicians always lose their second pages. When a hymn is so long as to require a second page, we just put the text in a single column (even if the scan uses 2 columns. As you have now discovered for us (with the line spacing), weird things happen with text in columns.

Notes by L3 KenJ 23:51, 17 August 2007 (PDT)

  • Well done. It's ready.
  • Actually, I just posted some comments regarding the same problem with line-spacing in single-column hymns (coming right up... pp. 194 + 195 I think.)

  • Version 2 cleared and uploaded to repository. Jkenny 03:19, 18 August 2007 (PDT)

Notes for PPer

  • Please note treatment of Theme header. In scan, this was halfway down the page. We moved it to the top, and used a shorter version of the text which is consistent with the rest of the hymns under this same theme.
