Lyrics copied from P3 and perl-formatted --QMacrocarpa 15:16, 2 June 2007 (PDT):

"SEE the destined day arise!"
"See, a willing sacrifice,"
"To redeem our fatal loss."
"Jesus hangs upon the Cross!"
""
"Jesu, who but thou had borne,"
"Lifted on that Tree of scorn,"
"Every pang and bitter throe,"
"Finishing thy life of woe?"
""
"Who but thou had dared to drain,"
"Steeped in gall, the cup of pain,"
"And with tender body bear"
"Thorns, and nails, and piercing spear?"
""
"Thence, poured forth, the water flowed,"
"Mingled from thy side with blood,--"
"Sign to all attesting eyes"
"Of the finished Sacrifice."
""
"Holy Jesu, grant us grace"
"In that Sacrifice to place"
"All our trust for life renewed,"
"Pardoned sin, and promised good."
""
"Grant us grace to sing to thee,"
"In the Trinal Unity."
"Ever with the Sons of light,"
"Blessing, honour, glory, might. Amen."

Lily3 Notes

Copy the Lilypond source to your computer and compile it to create MIDIs and a PDF to check. Leave notes here, or edit the code in Lily2 and leave notes describing the changes. The L3 who declares the hymn "cleared" should upload the correctly-named files to the file repository. This ensures that what is checked and cleared is exactly what is uploaded.

  • Which one should be used CHRISTIAN YEAR - PASSIONTIDE: GOOD FRIDAY or PASSIONTIDE: GOOD FRIDAY or CHRISTIAN YEAR - GOOD FRIDAY

Notes by L2 Jkenny 05:17, 1 July 2007 (PDT)

  • I think it should be CHRISTIAN YEAR - PASSIONTIDE: GOOD FRIDAY, this is the same as on subsequent pages, and preserves the most information from the original.

styg 21:58, 12 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Tempo marking: "slow" should be lower case.
  • Verse 1, line 3: Does this end with a comma or period? Can't tell from scan.
  • Everything else looks good.

Jkenny 01:10, 13 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Fixed tempo marking
  • Verse 1 line 3: I think its a comma. Very clear in the 1933 edition, and the scan looks a little like a comma too. Fixed it and updated proofing errors page.

Lily3 cleared, files uploaded styg 13:18, 14 July 2007 (PDT)
