"O THOU who through this holy week"
" Didst suffer for us all,"
"The sick to cure, the lost to seek,"
" To raise up them that fall:"

Lily3 Notes

Copy the Lilypond source to your computer and compile it to create MIDIs and a PDF to check. Leave notes here, or edit the code in Lily2 and leave notes describing the changes. The L3 who declares the hymn "cleared" should upload the correctly-named files to the file repository. This ensures that what is checked and cleared is exactly what is uploaded.

Notes by ebykm 19:55, 28 June 2007 UTC

  • Is there any way to remove the lines in the middle, when 2 breves are shifted horizontally ?. eg. Last note of this hymn.
  • Is there any way to create two lined breves (as it apears on the score) in lilypond ?.

Notes by L2 Jkenny 10:33, 29 June 2007 (PDT)

  • Yes, the lines in the middle of the breves when they are merged (Sop and Alto, last measure) presented a problem.
  • I designed new glyphs for the breves - one with only the left hand bar, one with only the right hand bar, so that they can merge without any lines in the middle
  • Using the above technique, it is possible to design new glyphs for two-bar breves. A lot of code will be needed, and then separate glyphs need to be designed for the small note breves. I wonder whether this makes the code too complex. This is like the old F-clef thing. What does everyone think? Should we do it?
  • I think this hymn begins the Holy Week theme. In the image, under the phrase "Holy Week" there's a couple of sentences beginning: "Passiontide Office Hymns till Maundy...." Not sure where this goes, so I placed them in small font below the theme, before the Hymn Number (kind of matches the image).
  • Below the Amen block is a two column block of text indicating the suitable hymns for Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday. I was surprised they managed to get into page 1 with all margins and other paper settings left at default, but space is tight, and there is not much clearance from the margins.

Comments by ebykm ,29 June 2007 UTC

  • wonder why use "\partmeasure" for just one measue when "\cadenza" can be used.
  • "I was surprised they managed to get into page 1 with all margins and other paper settings left at default"
It is relatively easy to do it manualy, remember computers weren't available at that time, hehehe.

styg 21:53, 12 July 2007 (PDT)

  • We've used this breve so far. I don't see a need to change. The joined-breve glyph looks good.
  • 1st system, 2nd bar, tenor line last note should be a4 instead of b.
  • I found no other problems.
