Notes

jkenny's notes - Lily2

  • Midi sounds strange - but are generated from the score which looks correct.
  • Could not silence the "people's" midi track -- so there are 5 midi voices on 3 tracks (people, S+A, T+B)
  • The hymnal words say tenor should be made prominent, so I added invisible ff to the tenor staff to generate louder midi for the tenor part. But can't really hear the difference.

stygiania's notes:

  • Midi is strange - Ravenscroft did something odd with the harmonies or there is a typo in the original. All my hymnals have the Este's Psalter version so I can't cross-check.
  • Italics missing on the last part of the NOTE are sometimes sung to this hymn.

QMacrocarpa's notes:

  • Surely there are breath marks missing in the original at double-bars in first system?
  • In italic text at bottom (with two hymn titles in small-caps), I thought PP said italics would override small-caps within an italic section? But I could have misunderstood, see project discussion.
  • The words "are sometimes sung to this hymn." should be italicized (oops, Styg already said that!)
  • Otherwise looks and sounds good to me!

notes by Jkenny 04:05, 9 May 2007 (PDT):

  • missing italic fixed. Missing breath mark - definitely not there, nor in my 1933 edition.
  • italics. I interpreted PPer's instructions this way:
    • In notes below the music, there are verse numbers and hymn numbers within a block of italic text. Looking at the way the printer italicized the word "verses" and "No.", it is reasonable to assume the printer would have italicized the numerals if he had italic numerals. So I italicized these numerals.
    • Parentheses in the block of italic text--I italicized them in accordance with the Formatting guideline about keeping punctuation within italic tags when they are part of a whole sentence or section.
    • Tune names in smallCaps. There is no reason to suppose the printer would have italicized the tune names, so I matched the image, i.e. upright smallcaps.
