Notes
jkenny's notes - Lily2
- Is Franconia done the way Dani wanted, i.e. smallCaps within italics?
QMacrocarpa's notes
- Re: Franconia, I thought we were to match the scan except for dates within italic context? So Franconia would be in small-caps and not italics after all. But another opinion would be most welcome!
- Reset Fraconia to upright. Not sure about hymn number, nut since "No." is slanted, assumed printer would have slanted "370" if he could, so slanted it. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Attribution should be "Williams' Psalmody, 1770." instead of "A. Williams' New Universal Psalmodist, 1770." (?)
- Fixed. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Extra barlines in four places: 1st complete meas., next-to-last meas. of 1st system, 1st complete meas. of 2nd system, next-to-last meas. of piece.
- Fixed. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- 1st complete meas. after 1st double-bar: soprano's 1st note is C instead of A.
- Fixed. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Very 1st meas.: tenor note is high C instead of low C.
- Fixed. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- First meas. after 1st double-bar: slur missing in bass.
- Fixed Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Last meas. in upper staff doesn't look exactly like original, where F's appear to overlap. Not sure if feasible, not requesting heroic Lily measures, just mentioning. :)
- Fixed. Not difficult. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Last 5 notes in tenor need correction-- first four need to go up an octave, last one is A instead of F.
- Fixed. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Length of last note in original seems odd. A dotted whole note would seem to make things come out more evenly.
- I agree. Strangely enough, both 1906 and 1933 editions show undotted whole note. I suggest we match the image.
- Fitting everything on one page would be nice if possible. On the other hand, could use a tad more space below "Instantis adventum Dei."
- Added space to Latin phrase. Tried 2 columns, but looked ugly. Verses 4, 5, 6 would have gone to the right hand column, but 4 and 6 have "Unison." which stick out significantly to the left, causing large white space between divider line and the mass of the right column text. Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- Other things done, Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- italicized the "Unisons."
- didn't much like the first slur in bass part - too step. Would have preferred slurs to attach to stems rather than noteheads. But can't change this globally. Every slur must be reset individually, so I just did that first bass part slur.
- Other things done, Jkenny 04:53, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- I'm really glad we won't be replicating slurs between stems everywhere! In the original those all look like beamed 1/8-notes to me! Much more readable this way. --Q
stygiania's notes:
- no natural sign in original on E in alto line, next to last measure.
- fixed. Jkenny 10:49, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
- This hymn does not have a period after the last verse number in the original. No objection to standardizing though if Dani wants.
- Suggest we keep the period in first. Easy enough for Dani to remove it later. The 1933 edition does have a period though. Bolding this note so Dani will notice. Jkenny 10:49, 10 May 2007 (PDT)
