Talk:Periodicals/JulietS 1 volume holdings

An interesting philosophical question arises from recent edits of this page. Is it possibly useful (to Juliet, to us) for there to be one list called "things Juliet has one X of", and another entry not mutually exclusive of who owns what on a particular periodicals page? I can see a use for both things, until (as Juliet implies) we are reduced to simply listing all the periodicals in the world.

But, consider: what use is it to have a page for a periodical that none of us owns, but that is available through a library somewhere? By that token, the periodicals listed in the main page that are only held by online harvesting sources should be moved to a list like this as well.

Definitely worth discussing. In this stage, we might not want to be too concerned with redundancy, because it causes social pressure to build indices and summaries later. Vaguery 04:54, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

I'm delighted to have folks reorganize all this information in whatever way(s) seem to make the most sense. My primary concern has been to make all of the "stuff" on my periodical holdings list available for others to see. Secondarily, to write down the information in my head that I've accumulated about various periodicals. Hmm, haven't figured out how to set that "signature with time-stamp" thingie... JulietS
since you ask, four tildes in a row Malcolm Farmer
Ooops. Four in a row gives Malcolm Farmer 07:17, 22 May 2006 (PDT), three in a row gives Malcolm Farmer
And, counterintuitively (until you think about it) five of 'em makes just the timestamp.
