Talk:P3 Junkies project list

Umm, this may be asking too much, I'm not sure how easily data could be found, but it might be nice to list both the date a project went ON the Junkies list, and the date it came OFF the list and moved into F1... Just a thought. Kraester 01:32, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

I've been collating data for the Previous projects list: halfway through now. I only just thought to leave a message here to that effect, and notice McK's duplicated some of my work: sorry about that. I'll update later today. And it'll be in reverse order, since the Current Projects are listed above, so it makes sense for all the dates to go in the same direction. Daniemers 03:57, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

Um. Won't it be a bit tricky to keep the Moved into F1, F2, PP etc. up to date? Aria 21:02, 29 May 2006 (PDT)

Just FYI: Links to PG e-texts can be set up with this type of special shortcut syntax: [[etext:12345]], replacing the "12345" with the appropriate number, of course. :) Kraester 03:56, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Updating status in the rounds manually would be tricky. It would be possible to build a tag (e.g. [[dpstatus:projectID40a3ec003c577]]) to pull the current status from the database or act like [[etext:12345]] for posted projects, but I don't know who knows how to do that or whether they would be willing to do so :-) I would find it useful in other places. There already is a tag for that. "Travels in China, a P3J project, is now in Completed and Posted to Project Gutenberg". Mike (talk) 00:23, 27 June 2006 (PDT)
OK, I have inserted the above "current state code" in the "Previous Projects," except for those posted to PG. The list may benefit from a thorough checking since I copy-n-pasted the project ID#'s manually, since I thought it would take me less time to do that than to write a script to insert the project #'s into the new code. As far as I can figure, inserting the eventual e-book numbers should be the only thing that will need to be done manually to the "Previous Projects" in the future. kraester 19:37, 27 June 2006 (PDT)
DPWiki:Magic tags. %link% might be useful for future projects (sorry, I forgot to document that when I created the tag). Cheers, Mike (talk) 01:57, 28 June 2006 (PDT)
OK, now I've converted all the Previous Projects to "current state code" of the following syntax:
  <projectinfo id="projectID#">%link%, by %author%; %state%</projectinfo>
which is more efficient "coding-wise," but it appears that the %link% and %author% extensions don't handle characters with diacriticals very nicely. Thus, if you'd prefer, you can just revert to my last Jun 27 change to go back to the code which pulled the "current state" in automatically, but typed the project title in manually.
If you do like this form (i.e., think the weird handling of the diacriticals is OK), we can convert the "current projects" to <projectinfo id="projectID#">%link%, by %author% coding, and then just the %state% bit would need to be added when the project moves from "current" to "previous." kraester 23:22, 28 June 2006 (PDT)
Interestingly if you specifically view in ISO-8859-1 then the characters come out fine. UTF/Latin-1 mixup? Aria 00:06, 4 July 2006 (PDT)
I'd point out that the expected_state=P3.proj_avail part of the url is very important for current projects, to warn people when the projects shift rounds, as they don't go into a queue, but straight into F1, where doing just proofing is frowned upon ... otherwise I would've used the %link% code there too Daniemers 14:28, 16 July 2006 (PDT)
