Talk:LaTeX definition

The editing screen I am using right now has a LaTeX icon at the top. I might be interesting to explore how to use that. Perhaps one could "sandbox" their latex expressions here until they work, then transfer them to a proofing form.

That sounds interesting. The "LaTeX" folks may want to set up something like a 'designated' LaTeX Sandbox in someone's User space for that. Kraester 16:18, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
Except I don't think there's anything to designate or set up. The icon is just there whenever you edit anything anywhere. But probably no one knows how to use it, in a sandbox or otherwise. I know I don't, but would like to. Dkretz 21:26, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
I expect that the likelihood that anyone viewing the LaTeX info in the wiki will also find this in the Talk section is very low, compared with putting a remark in the main section itself. Seems to me that moving it here dooms it to obscurity. But perhaps that's one of the purposes of the Talk section is to park what is deemed comparatively low-value text out of the way. The purpose of the Discussion/Talk pages is to hold comments/discussion about possible ways that a given page may be improved and changed. Since to me your statement seemed to be a comment like "maybe this page should show…", which is exactly what a Talk page is for, that's one of the reasons why I moved it here; the other reason being that it was transcluding to all the Jargon Guides. Looking at it again, and your follow-up, I'm thinking that your idea would likely have a much higher probability of being seen by the audience you seem to be hoping would see it if you put it on the LaTeX page itself instead of this 'LaTeX definition' page. I think I read somewhere that the LaTeX editor was not yet fully enabled (but that may have changed by now), so maybe if all the people who are interested in using it find each other, more progress might be made in that area. I think the LaTeX page will likely be a good locus for that. For what it's worth. Kraester 23:09, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
