The Bay View magazine was a supplement to on-going self-education/"improvement" groups. The Bay View Institute (?) offered courses over the summer as well. The Michigan equivalent of the better known Chautauquan Circles and Institute.
As of May, 2013, the Hathi Trust has v. 9-18 and 20 as well as some earlier individual issues.
