Tag the sidenote and move it to the break just above the paragraph in which it occurs; if the paragraph began on the previous page, move the sidenote to the very top of the page and precede its left bracket with an asterisk as a signal that it will have to be moved during post-processing.

Leave two blank lines above the Section heading. The italics is a complete sentence and so is the mixed-case small-caps, so both periods go inside their respective tags.

322

The proofers were kind enough to move the sidenotes to the paragraph breaks just above where they occur. Had they not done so, we would do it as formatters, and if the first such paragraph began on the previous page, it's sidenote would be move to the very top of the page and preceded by an asterisk to signal that it will have to be moved during post-processing.

323

Similar to page 322, above, and the first sidenote here does have to be moved to the top of the page and preceded by an asterisk-signal.

324

Tag the sidenotes and move each of them to the paragraph breaks just above where they occur.

Leave two blank lines above the Section heading. The italics is a complete sentence and so is the mixed-case small-caps, so both periods go inside their respective tags.

325

Tag the footnotes and make sure their numbers match the ones in the anchors in the text body.

Also tag the italics in the footnotes (of course).

326

The phrase in italics near the bottom of the page is a question, and the sentence in which it occurs is declarative, so the question mark belongs to the phrase and goes INSIDE the italics tags. Let the footnote anchor be inside the italics tags.

Tag the footnote and the italics in it.

327

Tag the footnote. It will continue on the next page, so follow the closing bracket with an asterisk as a continuation signal. The continuation asterisk for the hyphenated last word only applies to that word, so both asterisks are needed.

328

The footnote began on the previous page (of the original project; it happens to also be the previous page in these examples), so tag it, precede the opening bracket with a continuation asterisk, and modify the generated tag so that the colon immediately follows the word "Footnote." Remove the generated "#".

329

The proofers were kind enough to position the caption for the illustration between paragraphs, so just tag it and make sure there's a blank line above and below it.

Tag the footnote and enclose the verse within it in no-wraps, just as though it was in the text body. Replicate the indentation in the first line of the verse using an even number of spaces (2 in this case); the rest of the verse should be left-justified, as it would be in the text body.

330

"Abbé de singe air main d'os serre." follows a colon, so it's part of a larger sentence, so the ending period belongs to that larger sentence and goes OUTSIDE the italics tags.

The all-caps text in the footnote is just that, and shouldn't be tagged.

The last word in the footnote is upright, while the words just before it are in italics.

The footnote will continue on the next page, so follow its closing bracket with an asterisk to signal the continuation.
