What is a Watchlist?

A watchlist is essentially the subscription service that runs on the DP wiki. You can choose to add individual pages to your watchlist, and you'll be notified by email and through your wiki account when any changes are made to that page. It's like the topic reply feature on the DP Forums.

Using the Watchlist

The Watchlist interface is quite self-explanatory. There are blue links up the top to edit and delete your watchlist, as well as view any relevant changes to pages on your watchlist (this is the default page you land on whenever you click on the Watchlist link at the top of the wiki interface). Pages that have been modified are shown in bold, like this. A classification system is used for types of edits.

  • A capital N ("N") denotes the creation of a page. You will see this is you've just created a new page and ticked the checkbox to add that page to your Watchlist.
  • A lowercase M ("m") denotes a minor edit. If you've tried editing the wiki you'll notice there is a checkbox to mark your changes as a minor edit. Ticking that checkbox will toggle that "m" for users who have added whatever page you are editing to their watchlist.
  • A lowercase B ("b") denotes an edit performed by a bot. Bots regularly monitor the wiki and so it is not unusual to occasionally see edits done by bots.
  • A positive or negative number in green and in parentheses denotes whether the page has grown in size or not. For example, (+120) means the page has grown by 120 bytes. A grey zero in brackets means that the page size has not changed.

There are several filtering options for pages on your watchlist: you can filter by time period, type of edit and namespace, which is essentially the main categories of the DP wiki.

There is also a "mark all pages as visited" option which is comparable to the mark all as read function in your email. Clicking that button will mark all pages on your watchlist as visited.
