User:Close@Hand/Bad Word with Long S
From DPWiki
These are common OCR errors in projects that use the long s. I find it useful to add them to the bad words list. The "bad" form was not in common usage in the era when the long s was used. I have a feeling there should be many more of these:
- mall (for shall)
- mould (for should)
- cafe / Cafe
Big Bill, long before I ever thought of this, added the following candidates:
- Hull (for shall)
- irate (for state)
- foal (for soul)
- plea fed (for pleased)
- Hate (for state)
- alluring (for assuring)
- flood (for stood)
- matter (for master)
- deep (for sleep)
- prefect (for present)
- mew (for shew)
- fuck (for suck)
and Lucy has a set of regexps to find things. Whilst prepping a project you can throw this list into the ad-hoc word search tool and add to the BWL as appropriate:
mall mould cafe Cafe Hull irate foal Hate alluring flood matter deep prefect mew fuck
