PPTools/Ppgen/Tutorial/NFBlocks
Blocks of text are a group of lines treated as one element. Each line is separate and each line is left-aligned within the block. Text does not wrap. The entire block can be positioned at the left margin, in the center of the page, or at the right margin.
Note: The PP Guidelines point out that text that cannot be rewrapped should be indented from the left margin by at least 1 space. If you use ".nf l" (no-fill, left-aligned) blocks it is your responsibility to ensure either that the indentation is set properly by ".in" or that any rewrapping by users of the books would not cause problems. Therefore, when using ".nf l" blocks you should consider specifying something like ".in 1" before the ".nf l" directive and ".in" after the ".nf-" directive. You might find it convenient to use a macro to do that. Or, if you have ppgen 3.49h or later you can use a directive like ".nr nfl 1" to set an automatic indentation for ".nf l" blocks.

.nf b Let avarice from shore to shore Her fav'rite God pursue; Thy Word, O Lord, we value more Than India or Peru. Here mines of knowledge, love, and joy, Are open'd to our sight; The purest gold without alloy, And gems divinely bright. The counsels of redeeming grace, These sacred leaves unfold; And here the saviour's lovely face Our raptur'd eyes behold.
Here, light descending from above Directs our doubtful feet: Here promises of heav'nly love Our ardent wishes meet. Our num'rous griefs are here redrest, And all our wants supply'd; Nought we can ask to make us blest, Is in this Book deny'd. For these inestimable gains, That so enrich the mind; O may we search with eager pains, Assur'd that we shall find! .nf-

The first paragraph of a typical business letter is used to state the main point of the letter. Begin with a friendly opening; then quickly transition into the purpose of your letter. Use a couple of sentences to explain the purpose, but do not go in to detail until the next paragraph.
Beginning with the second paragraph, state the supporting details to justify your purpose. These may take the form of background information, statistics or first-hand accounts. A few short paragraphs within the body of the letter should be enough to support your reasoning.

Finally, in the closing paragraph, briefly restate your purpose and why it is important. If the purpose of your letter is employment related, consider ending your letter with your contact information. However, if the purpose is informational, think about closing with gratitude for the reader's time.
