Edward Elmer Smith was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on May 2, 1890 and died August 31, 1965. Both Contemporary Authors and St. James Guide to Science Fiction Writers have entries.
Lensman Notes: The Lensman series was originally intended as four books.. "Galactic Patrol" "Gray Lensman" "Second Stage Lensmen" and "Children of the Lens". These were all originally published in Astounding. "Triplanetary", a prequel, is mostly new material, plus one story (Published in Amazing) that was edited to put it in the Lensman universe. "First Lensman" was originally published as a novel, to fill in between "Triplanetary" and "Galatic Patrol"
