Ordinary sidenotes
Move the sidenote to just above the start of its paragraph (if on the same page), and leave a blank line between them. Since the paragraph in this example does begin on this page, leave a blank line above as well as below the sidenote. Do not precede the sidenote with an asterisk unless its paragraph, or the sidenote itself, began on the previous page, as that would indicate that the sidenote needs to be moved up further during post-processing.
