In Memoriam/charliehoward
charliehoward (Charles Howard Tesler) died on 15 January after a long illness.
Charlie joined Distributed Proofreaders on 11 September 2009. During his time with us, he proofread and formatted more than 84,000 pages many of those in the P3 and F2 rounds. He project managed three projects, PPVed three projects, and post-processed a massive 789 projects, all of which are now at Project Gutenberg. One of his projects, Down The Mackenzie and up the Yukon in 1906 by Elihu Stewart, was DP's 45,000th project posted to Project Gutenberg.
Charlie also founded the Library of Formatting Examples as a supplement to the Formatting Guidelines and that tool has been extremely valuable to formatters over the years.
Charlie was also responsible for the earliest Guiguts manual. He put an incredible amount of time and work into it, and kept it updated including hundreds of screenshots.
Charliehoward was also a key member of the team developing Guiguts 1 and Guiguts 2. As well as the manual, he contributed many ideas to the software development that have improved the PPing process.
