In Memoriam/Neologist
Neologist joined Distributed Proofreaders on 8 May 2006. During his time with us, he proofread and formatted 2,328 pages. He was an active P3 for many years and also worked as a P2 Mentor. As a Project Manager and, briefly, a Post-Processor, he was responsible for six projects that are now at Project Gutenberg. Ian was also active in our forums and has friends throughout Distributed Proofreaders. In 2006, he founded the Keep Your Chin Up Team in our forums "for those who proofread despite having some physical difficulty, where we can share experiences, coping strategies, technological and other aids etc. " and the team has been a source of comfort and friendship for many of our volunteers.
Ian was a retired Commander of the British Navy and worked as a General Manager and Board Member for charities in Bristol and Wiltshire. In his profile, Neologist listed his interests as "Music, relearning trombone/planning a hammer action keyboard/tenor ukulele (not playing currently as my fingers are too sore) DP, Photography, Crosswords, (erstwhile glider pilot) Aviation generally, though I no longer fly."
Ian will be deeply missed at Distributed Proofreaders.
