In Memoriam/John NZ

John_NZ (John Welch) died unexpectedly on 7 July 2025 after a long illness.

John joined Distributed Proofreaders on 19 August 2012. During his time with us, he proofread and formatted more than 33,000 pages. He worked actively in P3 for many years and, as a Project Facilitator, became a P3 Evaluator. As a Project Manager, John_NZ worked closely with Mebyon to assist him with projects.

John also worked as a Post-Processor and three of the projects he Post-Processed are now at Project Gutenberg. One of the Projects that he worked on was Newton's Principia. The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, a highly important book, has recently been posted to Project Gutenberg (He was very pleased to hear last week that it had been posted). John also served as a Trustee on the DPF board for some time. Month after month for many years until his health deteriorated, he gathered some of the statistics that are used in the monthly GM Reports.

John will be greatly missed at Distributed Proofreaders.
