Updated the foofer list - not much else to do.
7-7-2007
Updated foofer list and wiki. Not much movement. Am trying to keep working on F2 as it has been v. low page count recently. I had my main three but all were complicated. Have started on the Am Miss and 2/19 Cotgraves. I can do those in my sleep. The Am Miss is in articles now, so ripping those off easily. It does get complicated in the receipts in that it just takes longer. More formatting. I have three things waiting in the "oldest from foofer list" to start for F2 and I realize that I am reluctant mainly because they are also complicated. How many complicated things can I keep in my head? I may need to just work on moving other things (periodicals, easy LOTE, even some table-y stuff out). When I finish High German Primer (as I appear to be the only one working on it), then I'll add the next oldest from foofer list F2 project. I don't need to be working on more than one at a time or I'll burn out again. I'm fairly steady on mentoring again. My main things now are to sit down and finally go through the software book for photoshop. Once I have that, I can a) finish off the CP projects I've mouldering around and b) work on those few images I needed to fix (let's see if I can actually fix the Sims objects that bug or not).
Today is clean house, be hot, do laundry, be hot, watch tv, and be hot day. In reality, it's been fairly decent round here for some time. We've had some hot sunny days, but the nights are actually cooling down. I know by this time last year I was sweltering and the house never dropped below 90F. It may get up to the 80's in the house, but by 9pm last night it was 73. That was awesome. I have to run my fan but I can still sleep under covers. I think I'm underslept and need more but these last days when it's been "sleep as late as you like", I'm popping awake after barely 8 hours. Anyway, it's supposed to be in the 80's if not over 90 today and tomorrow but the forecast for next week (fingers crossed) is back to 70s and some rain for some days. This may not be great for everyone else, but a summer where it see-saws between 80 and 70 and we have rainy days (or at least overcast) is really helpful to ME, so to heck with the rest of them - evil grin.
I need to check in with Amy about the quiz. I think we should ask for a brief bulletin, especially in P1, asking people to test and comment. That will bring it to the attention of TPTB. I need to check and see if anyone offered to help with the frames. If not, then see who all might be able to and Amy and I between us can go "pester - politely" and ask for help. Then we can then say, okay, how do we get the new beginner's quiz up? How do we go through and update all links to quiz to be either proofers or foofers and NOT ONE link on any of our pages that takes people to BOTH on the same page?
If we can get the frames working (I love that "we", like I'm doing anything), then we can start on the moderate quiz, which would be the qualify for P2 one. That may need a blessing from Susan or Juliet or whoever is the Keeper of P2.
I also know Amy is working on documentation. I can offer to help. I can take it "off line" and edit, fix, update, take care of typos. I know that Amy is mostly working on that and I'm not sure where we, as DP, are with changing some of the items (blank line between paragraphs, renaming /* */ and /# #/ markup, numbers go inside markup, etc.), those items that have come up in the last several months as a new consensus seems to be reached but the guidelines haven't been changed to reflect.
And all this feeds into that I have to remember to respond about the Board so we can get started there too. I am still so 50/50 on wishing to join. It was flattering as hell and it's so much freaking work on my own time - taking away from DP. Oh well, I'll deal. Sigh. Okay, call John, do mentoring, see movie.

Updated foofer list and wiki. Have managed to keep up with mentoring but not so much foofing proofing. It has become too hot. I should answer Amy but it's too hot. :nyah:
I responded to the board, but haven't heard anything yet. My bathroom is finally finished which should help me get back in my routine. I swore I would work on the photoshop software this weekend and I did and got so frustrated I was crying. The tutorial sucks and the "for dummies" book which is normally useful was clearly a "for dummies if you've used photoshop before and all you need is what is different in this version" not the "if you have no clue at all". It's been so long since I did anything beyond paint (gosh, 15 years since I last did photoshop or other image manipulation programs wow), that I'm going insane. It tells me to use tools but doesn't show a picture of the icon OR explain where it is. It says "select section" but not how, and when I try to lasso a section, it links up and goes all blinking lights to show selected but when I try to do anything with it "sorry, you don't have any pixels selected" always returns. "Use the magic wand to select just the background" - okay how? That's exactly what I most want to do, and it doesn't say how. If I click on the area I want to get rid of (as it implies that's what I do), the entire image selects. It's a very graphic picture with clearly delineated sections. Layers - doesn't explain the utility of them or how to pull out elements and make layers. Sigh. I'm going to have to spring for $$ to have a human actually teach me this stuff, since the books (I've tried two now) both are crap.
The weather has gotten to 90 all day but still a little breeze which helps but beyond sitting here and reading forums, I have no energy to do anything else. Oh well. It'll be cool again in September ... right?

Updated foofer list and wiki, not much movement there. I've managed to keep up with the forums and feel good about that. Nothing much else though. Ha! tomorrow is the day I'll try for the genius bar and hope I get help on photoshop elements. Otherwise I will scream my head off (if you are going to tell people HOW to do layers --even if badly-- it would be nice to tell people WHAT the hell layers are and why one would like to use them. I'm just saying).

Updated foofer list and wiki, again not much movement. I am no longer kept up with forums, can't do anything for quizzes, and have even paused in mentoring. Work got insane. I did go to the genius bar and with my complimentary hour the very nice man showed me exactly what to do and then told me about photoshop and other software podcasts. Came home and found many of use to me. Huzzah.

Updated foofer list and wiki. Decided to change posting format again. Mainly because someone(s) are sucking up all the oldest English projects and leaving lots of LOTE. If I tried to figure out how to add in other English books, our list would prolly grow too quickly. This way, we concentrate (maybe) on what's already on the list and just add in the neglected projects (back to puppernutter's roots) and maybe an Easy English or two.
Came home sick after half a day. Soooo nauseated and tired and generally blah. Did all my chores yesterday except for one and that's cool, I got more done than I thought I would and enjoyed myself by spacing it out, doing DP and playing games and reading books and watching movies in between.

Updated foofer lists and wiki and all minor. Feeling much better and thank heavens. I never got any better much on Monday and Tuesday still uky, but yesterday better and today better still. No idea why.
And now back to Index to 2007
