AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY: STAR BOOKS

No Star Books were renewed (and therefore, copyrighted books up to 1963 are clearable.)

Some later Star Books are undated. Books up to 1989 are clearable. Note that the ATC headquarters was in New York City until 1985, so any undated book showing the New York City address is clearable.

This list is incomplete in several dimensions. Any additional information--titles, dates, copyright status--is welcome.

AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY: OTHER SERIES

These may represent parts of series; I've included price as a guide to date, and copyright information as a suggestion of what other books in the series might be clearable. There is a series starting with 400 and another starting with 500; I suspect all these are post-1963 copyrighted.

  • Book 402: Full Figure Fashions (c 1977) (50 cents) (not clearable)

There is a short series (8 books?) with no date or copyright so far. I suspect mid-late 70's but have no idea why these aren't in the 200 series with which they would be contemporary.

SCOVILL "CRAZY DAISY"

All I have found so far are undated (and therefore without valid copyright), but appear to date from the 1960's or early 1970's. This may not be a large series: perhaps a dozen books.

CLARKS AND COATS / AMERICAN SPOOL COMPANY

This is a large series, with many pre-1964 numbers copyrighted. I do not have even an incomplete bibliography. Booklets in bold are available in scans or hardcopy.

There were NO RENEWALS for Coat and Clark's or American Spool Company EXCEPT 6 "Priscilla" books and one other book, all from 1927-28.

("The Modern Priscilla" was a magazine with needlework and housekeeping tips, and also published books.)

NOTE American Spool Company renewed a lot of Priscilla books, so rule 6 clearances may not be feasible for this series.
