All of the rules for italics apply to boldface. The guidelines on bold are simple: basically, if it looks bold, tag it. If in doubt whether text is actually bold (rather than a print anomaly such as over-inking) ask in the project discussion for clarification. Other than the items mentioned below, such as headings, this applies to inline text as well as "standalone" text.
Before reviewing these examples, make sure you are familiar with the Bold Text and Inline Markup sections of the Formatting Guidelines.
