Instructions for Smooth Reading

This is a collection of thoughtful essays and poems about becoming and being old (a subject much on my mind nowadays).

There are two "real" illustrations and well over 100 decorative headpieces, tailpieces, and illustrated drop caps, as well as simple drop-caps in chapter-length poems. Taken together, they make the book somewhat artistic in appearance. There also are a few very short footnotes, and the text at the end of some essays tapers in a V-shape.

The illustrated drop caps [should] appear only in the Browser (HTML) version of the ebook, although they also appear in the somewhat defective Kindle for IOS app on iPhones and iPads. That app has other issues, so if you read this ebook on an iPhone or iPad, I suggest you use one of the other ereader apps (iBooks, Nook, Google Play Books, etc.)

If your ereader can use the epub3 version, the results should be better than with the old epub2 format.

In your feedback, please mention what you used to read this ebook, and thank you for helping with this interesting book.
