Origen of Alexandria (c. 184-253) was an early Christian scholar. This volume (with the next, which is being worked on) contains two of his major works: On the First Principles is the first ever systematic treatise on Christian theology, and Against Celsus is a defense against the first ever comprehensive criticism of Christianity.

Origen of Alexandria (c. 184-253) was an early Christian scholar who had a strong
influence on the theology of the early church.
This volume
(with the next, which is being worked on) contains two of his major works:
On the First Principles is the firstever systematic treatise of Christian theology,
and Against Celsus is his response to the work of Celsus, which in itself is the
earliest known comprehensive criticism of Christianity.
