|Instructions for Smooth Reading|

This is a fascinating, very readable history of ship construction and seamanship throughout the ages. It's well-illustrated (130, more or less), so you'll want to read one of the online versions listed below. There are footnotes, an Index, and a couple of tables (one tiny, one medium-size).
Some of the illustrations are illustrated letters ("illustrated drop-caps"), but they are sea and ship-themed, rather than ordinary florals. The HTML version shows them as "first-letters", but due to limitations with some eReaders, the .mobi / .epub versions show them on lines of their own, between the headings and the body text.
It was fun to put this book together and read bits & pieces while doing so. I hope you will enjoy it, too, and thank you for helping make it even better.
