I'm a bit surprised to see how much about ageing was known 100 years ago ... and even more so, several hundred years ago. It's also interesting to note that, as public records became more complete and reliable, the number of people who lived longer than 130 years declined to, well, zero.

Anyway, it's a fascinating book, particularly to, uh, older people like me. A few pictures, an index, and a lot of short footnotes. You'll probably want to read one of the online versions listed below, and thank you for your help with this project.
