In Memoriam/thegaul

Christian joined Distributed Proofreaders on 1 February 2010 and did a huge amount of work for us in English and French over the years. He proofread and formatted more than 1,600 pages and, granted direct upload in 2014, posted 133 ebooks to Project Gutenberg. One of his projects, The Shores of the Polar Sea, A Narrative of the Arctic Expedition of 1875-6 was selected as our 35,000th unique title posted to Project Gutenberg. Christian also worked as a Post-Processing Verifier, providing feedback to at least 49 new Post-Processors. He was active in our forums in English and French and was a friend to many of us. Christian's wife wrote to us to let us know of his death and added that "Being a contributor to your cause was among the most rewarding efforts after he retired from the Cornell University Libraries."

Christian has been greatly missed at Distributed Proofreaders and his contributions here are deeply appreciated.
